This week's subject is subscriptions. We are now into the third month of the season and I have been sent a copy of the list of players who have paid their subs for the season. The number is very low for this stage of the year. In essence therefore those who have paid are funding the club for those of you who have not paid. You know if you are a non payer and to be frank you are being selfish.

I will ask Martin to send me a revised list at the end of next week of players who have paid and then we as a committee can decide howbest to approach players who are still shy in paying.

Please all make as muych effort as you can to attend the social at the club on the 8th December where tickets are only £3.00 in advance of £4.00 on the door.

Best of luck for the weekend.

Last Saturday was a grim day. As a club we regressed back to the dark days. One topic only this week - discipline. To open my emails on a Sunday and read an email from a loyal and hard working club member expressing annoyance having been verbally abused by another club member who he was helping out by umpiring his match goes beyone the pale. Quite rightly a new member of the club also wrote in wondering what type of club he had joined.

From here on a very firm line will be taken by me and the committee and suspensions will ensue for bad discipline. Let the opposition moan by all means but players who argue - mainly due to their own on pitch failings - will not be tolerated no matter what standard. Fair to say that in the main such players are not as good as they think they are.

I sincerely hope that this is the end of this subject matter for the remainder of the season.

Not the best week of the season from a results perspective with a few underlying problems coming home to roost. The availability was as good as it has been so far this year. The first XIs problems were a product of not training and I must impress that Wednesday is a club training night and we do need more people at training.

The remainder of the year promises to be a tough few weeks but if we knuckle down can still end with success throughout.

Availability low point

The fact the club came through last weekend with so many positive results is remarkable. To wake up on a Saturday morning knowing there were only 19 players between the top 2 mens teams is not something I wish to do again in a hurry.

Last night's committee meeting came up with an idea to avoid this being a problem again and the minutes willbe published on the web site for all to see. To an extent it is also a matter of not being selfish and dropping out at the last minute or not wanting to play elsewhere in the club if non availability is merely one of an inconvenient start time.

A number of players still owe subs and so if you are one of those players please pay up in the next few days. Currently the club is being financially supported by those who have paid. The new shirts are here and so hopefully we can put the off field issues to one side and push on positively both on and off the pitch.

Well done to Sarah T for organising the fireworks. We do need more people from all the teams to attend our socials with the next one being on December the 8th at the club. Please support this event which will also involve the school and the rugby club so very important for our future that we show the club as being a vibrant and friendly place.

Eds wanted me to specifically say how his returning from holiday at 05.00 on the 10th November shows his commitment to the cause but why is he holidaying in the hockey season in the first place ??

Not the best week on the pitch for the club last week with one draw and the rest of the games ending in defeat. Looking at the top 2 XIs availability this week 16 players are unavailable. As soon as everyone is available other problems will manifest themselves!

Disappointingly no match report from the seconds but notwithstanding the result all matches should have a report.

The first event of the social season this week with the fireworks on Saturday and let us hope the weatehr is kind and all attendees have fun.

Next week will see the new initiative of publishing the committee minutes on the site after th emeeting on the 6th.
