Seasons openers

Here we are again at the time of the season where there is so much enthusiasm and hope. From the First XIs perspective there is the opportunity to banish the huge disappointment of losing the play off against Yately last year and we must aim to go one better this time round.

New faces in the club, new pitch, refurbsihed club house and an intent from the committee to major on the social and club spirit side this season.

I am always upset at hearing negative comments about our club but the the last few months have seen a change. The move to eradicate bad behaviour towards umpires had an immediate efefct last year and ther sterling efforts of Rob Merry and Christian Davies to run the summer league on our splendid new surface has resulted in positive comment from far and wide.

The committee will be having regular meetings and it is intended to publish the minutes on the web site so all can see the direction that the club is being steered. The next meeting is on the 23rd October and so if you wish to raise any points please pass these onto any committee member.

A social committee has been set up and will shortly advise of details of the functions throughout the year with an attroactive price being set ofr anyone who wants to buy tickets to all 4 events at once.

The school is being entertained both on and off the pitch on the 8th December and we must use this opportunity to engender a really positive feeling.

Best of luck to all the players and teams about to enter the league season battle fields.

Let's make it a positive season both on and especially off the field.

Knappy.

The world according to Knapp

For the coming season David Knapp will be offering his thoughts on life, the universe and OC hockey here. His views do not reflect the hockey club or any other right-wing neo-fascist organization.
