Steve Isaac

Seemingly lifted out of the pages of England, Their England , Issac would not be out of place alongside the blacksmith and the parson in any village side. Well-built and tall, he is a farmer (although before taking over his father's holding he held down occupations as varied as long-distance lorry driver, motorbike courier ...). In his prime he bowled sharpish medium-paced inswingers which moved a mile, causing consternation to both batsman and wicketkeeper alike, and that combined with the bounce he extracted from his height made him a dangerous bowler - given a green wicket he could be unplayable. As a batsman he hit the ball hard and straight. He was a genuine allrounder. But a series of knee and back injuries effectively ended his career after the Antigua tour in 1997 and his appearances recently have been few but welcome.
