Profile
Graeme Brown is the closest we have to a genuine bits and pieces player. Originally seen as a more than useful offspinning prospect, Graeme's bowling did not develop as expected, possibly not helped by his fragile confidence and the reluctance of captains of his league team to bowl him. However, he remains a useful flat offspinner who is more than capable of producing good performances, but not of doing so regularly. His batting also suffers from a lack of self-belief, but he is courageous, not worried by the short ball (as is the case with many shorter batsman) and in possession of a wide array of strokes. At the top of the order he can build an innings but he is equally capable of accelerating the run-rate at the death. A shadow of the roly-poly character who joined the club in 1996, Graeme is a good outfielder - that is the best place for him as his incessant chattering usually drives not only the batsman but often his team-mates to distraction. A seasoned tourist, Browneye's nadir came in Kenya off the field and in Antigua on it, when he became the only OC to be hit clean out of a Test ground. Away from the club he has emerged from Ian Botham's teaboy to hold down a senior production role at Sky Sports.
